Gifts of Colour Holiday Art Show Gifts of Colour The theme this year will be Gifts of Colour. All members are encouraged to create figurative artworks for the show featuring the element of colour. Monocolour, or multicolour, challenge yourself! There are two shows happening in the theatre at the same time as our art show, which should be terrific for attendance: Chamber Music Kelowna on the Friday, and Alex*Cuba on the Saturday. Kevin and Devon, a guitaristic duo (apparently very good) will be performing in the Atrium along with us at 7 pm for a pre-show show, so that should be pretty exciting. Maybe you'd like to see either (or both!) of these performances! To see what Alex*Cuba is all about, visit the Rotary Centre website. Space allocation for each artist is up to five pieces each. Any member having any piece wider than 2 feet needs to inform Ralf before the deadline for submissions. Artists displaying pieces over 24 x 36 need to provide their own easel(s). Artists displaying in the Rotary Centre for the Arts (including this show) need to know that there is a 15% commission paid to the RCA for any artwork sold in their venue, so please build this in to your prices. If you have any questions, contact Ralf or Julia. Let's have a fabulous show! Reminder that the first session of drawing at the Canadian School of Ballet will take place on October 7th between 10:15 - 12:15. Rebekah Wilkinson has made arrangements for Livessence to draw there on the first Tuesday of each month. If you are interested in participating, please contact Rebekah at rjwilkin@telus.net. On October 18th & 25th we will offer two workshops called Beyond Drawing. It will take place after the regular drawing session from 1230 pm to 330 pm and will focus on how to work up sketches into a larger works of art (ideal for our Holiday Art Show!) While there will be no formal instruction, the artists present at the workshop will coach and guide each other. There will be a nominal $5.00 fee for each session and participants will be asked to bring their own art materials and at least three sketches to work from. |
